| The Eskimo women and their families
went north on the ship with the crew to make clothes
for all the expedition members. Here they are getting paid with
gifts after the expedition. Some of the Eskimo women were very close
to Matt and Peary. In fact Matt's only child was
from his Eskimo girl friend—not his wife Lucy back home. That is
why Matt has so many grandchildren in Greenland today. There are
many Inuit-Hensons and all
are very proud to be descendant from Matthew Henson. There are also
Peary-Inuit, and even Captain Bartlett-Inuit. |
