| eBay promises
"carrier
pickup...so you never have to
leave your home..." |
 |
Escalon's postmaster Crandal
wants shippers to have "circular
driveways" because he will not
allow any carrier to back up.
Next he may want packages placed
where the carrier doesn't have
to walk, lest one trip over
their shoe laces.
In San Francisco I admired the
stamina of letter carriers who
had to walk up the steep hills,
then walk up a flight of front
steps
to the landing of large
Victorian buildings. Here in the
country the carriers zip around
in a little jeep like truck
becoming so lazy they won't get
out to place parcels on the
porch, or pick them up from your
door.
When I recall how hard
mailmen work in some
regions it is ridiculous
that the ones in this
area won't walk from
their vehicle, claim
they can't back up, or
declare a mud puddle to
be an "unbridged
stream" that sets
one's driveway off
limits for their
services. |
